New renderings have been released of Haikou Eco-Smart City, a comprehensive high-tech development designed by HOK in the Chengmai town center, on the north side of China’s Hainan Island. HOK’s plan creates a smart-growth city that optimizes the overall ecological system and promotes culture and tourism, while encouraging a sustainable lifestyle.
The design strategically allocates appropriate commercial, cultural and tourism programs to preserve the natural resources of the site—including forests, orchards and farmland—to build an industry-urban integrated community. Once built, the Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability (LOHAS) development will attract professionals committed to healthy, sustainable lifestyles.
