EYP Architecture & Engineering has hired Ricardo Socorro, AIA, LEED GA, as senior medical planner for the company’s Houston office. In this role, Socorro will focus on promoting the firm’s capabilities in innovative design through project management and client relations.
With over two decades of industry experience, Socorro has demonstrated success in hospital planning and design for a broad range of national and international healthcare systems. His notable projects include the University of Texas Medical Branch, the University of Pennsylvania and the Mount Elizabeth Parkway Novena Hospital.
“Ricardo is a dedicated professional and incredibly knowledgeable about planning and design in the healthcare sector,” said Charles Griffin, FAIA, FACHA, EDAC, and healthcare sector leader at EYP. “His extensive experience will help him focus on operational improvements so EYP can continue to be the standard for evidence-based design, and provide lasting solutions for our clients’ needs.”
Prior to joining EYP, Socorro served as senior healthcare planner at HDR, Inc., where he was responsible for the planning of healthcare and research facilities, as well monitoring current trends in healthcare delivery and the impact of new concepts of patent and staff flow, as it relates to medical planning. Additionally, he worked directly with clients to provide architectural solutions that guaranteed client satisfaction.

Socorro holds a Bachelor of Architecture and Urbanism from the Universidad Central of Venezuela in Caracas. He is an active member of the American Institute of Architects and Boston Society of Architects.
