IAHSS guides healthcare facilities in conducting standardized fire drills

The International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS) has launched a Fire Drill Observation Evaluation Form to provide hospitals and other healthcare facilities with standardized best practices for conducting fire drills.

This form is a standardized template based on recommendations from regulatory agencies, real world experiences of international members, and common regulatory standards. The guidance will help you efficiently run fire drills, capture deficiencies, and educate team members.

IAHSS thanked the members of the IAHSS Education Council for their expertise and guidance on developing this tool. The Council created a fire drill form for members to use after being approached by an accrediting agency who noticed a trend in differing forms across the many facilities they surveyed. The agency encouraged standardization for improved compliance with requirements.

**Members should always be sure to confirm that you are also meeting the requirements of your local authority having jurisdiction, advises IAHSS.

The Fire Drill Observation Evaluation Form is available to IAHSS members at no cost, and to non-members for $19.99. IAHSS is a professional association with more than 3,000 members who are security, law enforcement, safety and emergency management leaders involved in managing and directing security and safety programs in healthcare facilities.
