December 3, 2024 – Spec Furniture, a well-known manufacturer of contract office furniture specializing in designing and producing seating and table solutions for healthcare, corporate and educational markets, recently announced the launch of its new Continuing Education Unit (CEU) titled Accessibility Considerations: Purposeful Design for All. The course focuses on creating inclusive and functional built environments that cater to people of all abilities, including those with disabilities.

With a deep commitment to wellness and functionality, Spec has long been at the forefront of producing furniture that meets the unique needs of diverse spaces, including the behavioral health sector. As part of the company’s mission to improve the quality of life through purposeful design, this new CEU aims to educate professionals on the importance of accessibility in interior environments — emphasizing how thoughtful, inclusive design can enhance both physical and mental well-being.

The course covers a wide range of topics, including:

  • The principles of universal design
  • Accessibility guidelines and standards
  • How to create inclusive environments that promote wellness
  • Considerations for designing furniture and spaces that support both able and disabled individuals
  • Practical strategies for incorporating accessibility into healthcare, corporate and educational environments

At Spec, we believe that well-designed spaces can significantly improve quality of life, and accessibility is a key component of that. Our new CEU is designed to empower interior designers and architects to create truly inclusive environments — spaces that work for everyone, regardless of ability. We are excited to provide the tools and knowledge to help make that vision a reality.

Interested attendees are invited to speak with local Spec reps to set up an in-person class schedule. Spec is dedicated to offering ongoing educational opportunities to its partners and the broader community, ensuring that functional, beautiful, and accessible spaces are available to all.
